Plant Technologies

Rhizomes, tubers, bulbs and corms are actually underground stems, not roots. These underground stems are storage containers for the plant.

Rhizomes are stems that grow horizontally, but rhizomes
grow underground and generally have a thickened stem that is used for storage.
